The mimosa route is a 130km route, divided into 8 stages, which is undertaken between January and April to enjoy the beauty of the French Riviera.
Bormes las Mimosas
The first stop on the mimosa route is Bormes las Mimosas, which with its 90 different species represents the mimosa capital. Let us not forget that it is here that the annual mimosa festival is held in February.
Rayol-Canadel
The second stop on the mimosa route is Rayol-Canadel, a small Côte d’Azur village on the Maures massif. The Domaine du Rayol, an extraordinary 20-hectare garden with a balcony overlooking the Mediterranean, is a mythical place where the flowers of the Mediterranean basin are expressed in winter. On site, the hills of the Maures flow into the sea and is the ideal climate for mimosa. Our advice is to take the departmental road RD27 to the Col du Canadel to enjoy a breathtaking view of the French Riviera.
Sainte-Maxime
Located in the famous Gulf of Saint-Tropez, Sainte-Maxime is an ideal seaside resort for a family break on the French Riviera. Sainte-Maxime, the third stop on the Route du Mimosa, celebrates the arrival of spring each winter with its parade of flowers and it is here that Miss Mimosa is elected. Be sure to appreciate its 11 kilometers of coastline, its many sandy beaches, its botanical gardens, but also the beauty of its pedestrian streets. The natural peninsula of Pointe des Sardinaux is the ideal place for a family picnic on the Route du Mimosa.
Saint-Raphael
In Saint-Raphael, the fourth stop on the Mimosa Route, located at the gateway to the Estérel massif, 36 kilometers of coastline, some 30 secret beaches and coves, and, of course, ubiquitous nature await you. A modern and historic city, the town of Saint-Raphaël invites you to discover its coastal route-the Ile d’Or-but also to participate in its carnival, in February, to celebrate the Mimosa. Another date not to be missed under any circumstances: every last weekend in February there is also the Flower Festival in Agay.
Mandelieu-la-Napoule
At the end of February the famous Mimosa Festival is held in Mandelieu, with the election of its queen. You can also participate in the many flower parades. Mandelieu is the birthplace of mimosa culture, and it shows. Both literally and figuratively. This is where the road to gold begins.
Tannero
The Tannero massif has twenty-two hamlets that allow it to present the largest area planted with cultivated as well as wild mimosas in France. Between February and March, you can see mimosas on every corner. Normal, because 200 hectares of its territory are covered with them. During this period you can enjoy mimosa in all its forms, especially in candies and honey. Fellow foodies, you will enjoy it!
Pégomas
In Pégomas, the mimosa will enchant the sight and smell. Pégomas is home to the Jardin des Mimosas, with a dozen different varieties of mimosas to discover under an ever-blue sky. The first sprigs of mimosa are celebrated in late January.
Grasse
Logically, it all stops in the heart of the perfume capital of the world: Grasse. Grasse and the mimosa is a love story as old as the world. There is MIP, the International Perfume Museum, where the mimosa is approached from every angle, especially in the heart of all its historic perfumeries. Needless to say, the city celebrates flowers and perfume all year round.
