Known for its lemon and the festival that celebrates it, Menton has a medieval old town with colorful facades that give it an incredible charm.
The last French city before Italy, Menton is considered the pearl of France: with its very special subtropical climate, characterized by mild, sunny winters and hot, dry summers, with its old town and its ancient facades in soft pastel colors, it is a small wonder, full of lush gardens. Menton is also famous for growing lemons. There is a legend that Eve, driven out of Paradise, took one of these golden fruits with her, and that she planted its precious seeds right here. And the Festival of Lemons (Fête du Citron) in February is dedicated to the fruit.
